Understanding Dental Insurance
No matter if your insurance is through work, a private plan, or you’re looking at other options, we’re here to make your experience smooth and clear. Dental insurance can help lower the cost of keeping your smile’s health, but understanding your policy is key to avoiding surprises. At Horizon Dental, we work closely with you to explain your benefits and help you get the most out of your coverage.
How Does Dental Insurance Work?
Unlike medical insurance, dental insurance typically focuses on preventive care and basic procedures, offering partial coverage for restorative or cosmetic treatments. This means most plans cover preventive services like cleanings and exams at 100%, while more comprehensive procedures are covered between 50% and 80%, depending on your plan.
When you come to us, our friendly team will provide a detailed estimate of your coverage based on your treatment plan. This information includes insurance-covered portions, anticipated out-of-pocket costs, and options for financing any remaining balance.

What Affects Your Benefits?
Your insurance company determines the specifics of your plan, including the fee schedule, the treatments covered, and their reimbursement policies. Because of these variables, what your insurance covers may differ from someone else’s, even if they use the same provider. For example, one plan might include orthodontic coverage, while another may not.
At Horizon Dental, we take care of filing claims on your behalf to minimize hassle. Our team ensures the information is submitted electronically for faster processing. While we work hard to maximize your benefits, it’s important to note that we don’t have control over the final reimbursement decisions made by your insurer. However, if any discrepancies arise in your claims, we’ll support you in finding a resolution.

We strive to make dental care accessible for as many patients as possible, which is why we accept a broad range of dental insurance plans. Whether you have a policy through a nationwide provider or a regional one, there’s a high chance we can work with your plan.
